Association of German Shepherd Rescuers Inc

The Association of German Shepherd Rescuers, Inc (dba German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County or GSROC) is a volunteer-driven organization funded entirely by private donations. GSROC receives no government or municipal support. Dogs for adoption are housed in foster home situations and in private boarding facilities until they are adopted into permanent homes. 

Approximately 50% of the dogs at GSROC come to us directly from owners who can no longer care for them for one reason or another. The Number One reason that we receive dogs from owners is “Moving,” with the Number Two reason of lack of funds for proper care.  Dogs also come to us when owners become ill or hospitalized, when owners pass away, and when families lose their homes or undergo a lifestyle change. 

The other 50% of the dogs at GSROC are plucked from public animal shelters throughout Southern California when no owner comes to claim them or when they are no longer wanted. We race to save as many of these dogs as we can, however limited space and resources constantly make our task difficult. We cover the Counties of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and occasionally San Diego.

Funds raised go to provide care for the dogs. This includes private training for some of the dogs in our care to make them better prospects for adoption: surgeries and medical treatment from regular veterinary visits; as well as repairing broken bones; daily food and housing; and other costs related to running a successful rescue operation.

With your generous support, we can continue to rescue dogs in crisis. Last year, we were able to rescue 227 dogs, and we are on track to surpass this number this year.  Your donations go directly to support our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing German Shepherd dogs that have nowhere else to turn.
